Hello and welcome! This site is a recreation of a site that appears in the pilot episode of Jonathan M. Shiff's 2006 series "H2O: Just Add Water". It's seen for 188 frames late in the episode, while Lewis is reading about mermaids online at the Juicenet Cafe, with the complete address bar visible in the browser, showing the address greekmythicalcreatures.com/mermaids/pictures.
During a rewatch in 2018, my first time seeing the series since 2008 when it aired in the US on Nickelodeon, I noticed both this web address and mermaidmyths.com (seen in Season 1 Episode 5, "Something Fishy") were both unregistered. I registered both, with the intent of recreating them as a fun easter egg. In 2023, I began work on recreating mermaidmyths.com, and as of May 2025 it's online. As of the time of writing this, it is June 2026 and I am finally putting together greekmythicalcreatures.com for the 20th anniversary of H2O: Just Add Water.
For this project, the majority of the art was found to have been sourced from a number of 16th and 17th century publications, including:
- Historia animalium by Conrad Gessner
- Monstrorum Historia by Ulisse Aldrovandi
- "Pesce Donna" by Giovanni Antonio Cavazzi
